Happy Bike Month!

May is always an exciting time as a cyclist in New England. The weather finally starts to cooperate (mostly!) with getting outside without having to wear multiple layers of gear, the roads finally get swept of lingering sand and salt, and we can start to get back on the trails on our gravel or mountain bikes without fear of endless mud. May is also bike month, when we get to celebrate all the amazing ways cycling can transform society as a mode of transportation, fitness, and recreation.
Check out some of the awesome events going on this month below and be sure to contact Cycle Life PT if any pain or other issues limit your time spent on your bike!
May 13-19 is Bike to Work Week! If you’re a seasoned commuter be sure to share the joy! If you’ve never tried this is the perfect opportunity to give it a shot. Start small with one ride a week or by riding partway and be amazed a the benefits you get from a little jolt of biking instead of sitting in your car!
May 17 is Bike to Work Day and there are groups coming from all over Greater Boston to meet on City Hall Plaza for a celebration. Check to see if there are group rides from your area and learn more here.
Mountain Biking More your thing? NEMBA group rides start back up this month and are a great way to connect with fellow riders and to find new trails. It is also NEMBA’s member drive so if you enjoy the trails they help maintain consider supporting by becoming a member! Learn more at their website here or check out Greater Boston NEMBA on Facebook here!
Looking for road and gravel rides around the area this month? Many local clubs are kicking into gear and are a great place for new and experienced cyclists to find a community. Check out some of the ones in the Greater Boston area here (there are many more than I can list!) and be sure to check with your local bike shops to see if they host rides as well!
Gravel Boston (find them on IG here, weekly gravel rides, usually out of Cycle Loft in Burlington)
Women on Wheels Boston (Great club for female identifying riders, season opener is May 19!)
Check out MassBikes event Calendar for more great events!
So get out there and ride this month and remember Cycle Life is here to keep your body in shape for whatever you decide to throw at it on and off the bike!
